A fine release to mark the 100th anniversary. As the Hooj web site states "forward thinking club package that's intrinsically linked with house's glorious past". This release was specially comissioned by Hooj for their 10 year anniversary. Its a fine release. Tribal / House / Progressive and a real growler. The NYSC mix is the best of the bunch. Overall 6/10.

  Hooj Description
Holy shit. If anyone had told us back then, in the autumn of 1990, as we sat around in the chaotic little broom cupboard that was Hooj HQ, sparking up the occasional remedial one to help ease the pain of the weekends' endeavours, idly sketching that daft little stickman we were using as a cheap and obviously temporary logo, that ten years down the line, with house culture having grown from an underground subculture to part of the global entertainment industry, we'd be sat in a slightly bigger broom cupboard, sparking up the occasional remedial one, still in pain from the weekends' endeavours, with that f*$k!n stickman still hanging about ......

Of course if anyone had told us back then that Danny Tenaglia would co-produce Hooj 100, to be released ten years to the month after Rio Rhythm Bands' 'Carnival da Casa '(Hooj 01), we'd have wondered who the hell Danny Tenaglia was. But co-produce it he has, and as you'd expect, we're very pleased about it. Indeed.

Tenaglia's co - conspirators' in this decennial extravaganza were the snappily named 'Tarantella Vs Redanka', ( hence : DA nny TA rentella R edanka - neat eh!) Whoop Records stalwarts Chris Bourne and Andy Holt, who were invited over to NY by the man himself to spend a good few days (and a good, a very good, few dollars) at MAW studios. Fortunately for all concerned, the results speak for themselves.

'B' comes in four mixes, two superb tribal - dubby epics from Tenaglia (Love Parade Dub & Space tErracE mix), a truly crafted and comparatively compact floor shaker from 'Tarrantella Vs Redanka', and a classy tech work out from the U.S. bods Smith and Selway. Within the Hooj camp, various proposed ways of marking our 'decade of half decent house' have drifted in and out of favour throughout this year, but in the end, we couldn't ask for a more appropriate one than DATAR itself - a superb (we think), forward thinking club package that's intrinsically linked with house's glorious past.
